As the nail grows the balance shifts and the regrowth shows at the base. A fill rebuilds and re-balances the existing set instead of starting a new full one, which is why most people come back on a two-to-three week rhythm.

Gel cured under lamp. Higher shine and more flex than acrylic and lighter on the nail — the usual answer if you keep your nails shorter and want them glossy for a couple of weeks at a time.

A soft gel extension tip bonded across the whole nail rather than built up in layers. Nothing is filed down to apply it, it goes on faster than a full acrylic set, and it soaks off rather than being filed away.

Color powder sealed with a bonding resin, no lamp involved. Harder-wearing than gel polish and lighter than acrylic — a good middle ground if gel chips on you but acrylic feels like more than you want.
